I sent it back on the final day of my 10-day "inspection period", after repeated phone calls and e-mails got me nowhere. I can honestly say that the folks I dealt with were genuinely uninterested in working with me. I know that mistakes happen, and would have gladly worked with them to get them corrected. In the end, I probably won't deal with them again, simply because of the poor service I received after making them aware of my issues. Nicely grained mahogany back, beautiful maple fingerboard (even had some nice "birds eye" though I didn't pay extra for it). The price was great, and the workmanship seemed top-shelf. Could have really bonded with it if not for the issues I had. Wouldn't even pay for return shipping, even though there were obvious finish flaws and the neck didn't meet the quoted spec (that I received in writing).Ī nice enough guitar, and it sounded great. When I contacted Carvin (and supplied them with pictures of the black specks) they were very dismissive, especially one of the "higher ups" in the Customer Service department. Naturally, I asked for that spec in writing.Īfter 8 weeks, the DC4 arrived. Said he verified that with several of "the guitar guys". I specifically asked what the 12th fret measurement was, and after some research my sales rep came back and quoted. On January 23, 2018, Carvin Amps and Audio announced the relaunch of their website.

I called up and placed the order after learning that one of the new neck options (option code THKN) gave a thicker neck profile. Later on, Carvin switched to manufacturing through-neck guitars. I recently (February '14) bought a Carvin DC4 in the Goldtop finish. Still haven't had a chance to plug it up, but I'm expecting a little surprise from the brown truck today - a Marshall JVM-1C one of their little 1-watt 50th anniversary combos, so I'll see what the Carvin sounds like then. Before getting it I did not know much about Carvins, but after. The tones I am getting so far are super rich and thick. It has a great flame top on top of a mahogany body and neck with an ebony fret board. Took it out again yesterday and miraculously, the fret buzz had gone away, I guess maybe it had acclimated to the room conditions. Does anyone have any experience /opinions with Carvin guitars I just picked up a used 2012 CT6M in perfect condition and so far I am really liking it. Mentioned in Aarons Q&A on the official website of Paradise Lost: What instruments did you use making the new album 1991 Carv. Initially disappointed and no time to really play it, I put it back up. When I first opened the case, I tuned it up and the strings just sounded dead (not surprised, they look new, but not D'Addarios like I'm used to) and there was a bad buzz on the low e. Still doesn't look like it's been played at all, though. It's also about 5 years older than they said in the ebay listing, it's a 2005 model, not 2010.

Quickly, though, it really isn't close to the color in the photo - don't get me wrong, it is BEAUTIFUL, but it's more of a teal than blue, so I'm really confused as to what color it is.

I'm still going to wait a little longer to post a full review, but right now I'm pretty happy.
